Where can Kimberly and her friends go now?

At this festive time of the year, Kimberly's mum and other families are wrestling with the question - what do our children do when their secondary schooling comes to an end this month?

I want to share with you Kimberly's story

Young children with high needs disabilities enjoy their education though the caring approach at Special Schools.  Children engage in art, music, physio and speech therapy, cooking and drama and then families realise this all comes to an end - unless post school programs are created.

Mums and dads need daily respite from the demands of looking after their loved ones, or just need to find space to go to work to support the family unit. These post school programs require at least 1 specialist staff member for every 2 young people with high needs disabilities.

I am urgently looking for 1,000 people this Christmas to give $25 so that a new program can be planned and up and running for Kimberly in the New Year. Are you in a position to be one of the 1,000 generous donors I am looking for?

Please just enter your donation amount below - and if you are one of our fabulous lottery supporters then you know where we want to spend the proceeds - a new special post school program for our young adults. At the end of the day whatever you can contribute will be appreciated.

I promise to keep you informed on how we go with this urgent project (deadline February 2012) and look forward to working with the parents and local communities to make things happen!

Kimberly's mother Debbie has been a tower of strength and is inspiring those around her to get this post school program up and running with Multicap.

In her own words "Having invited Multicap to the sunny coast, we are delighted they are developing supports for many young adults with high needs like Kimberly, and delighted that the investment of time, energy, resources and experiences shall continue to enrich our children's world".

Once again I hope you enjoy hearing some of Kimberly's story - and look forward to a successful New Year project.

Yours sincerely
