Service status as of Friday 8 October 2021

Restrictions are currently in place for some Multicap Accommodation Services in Queensland and New South Wales.


From 4pm Friday 8 October 2021, restrictions will be eased in the local government areas of Brisbane, Logan City, Gold Coast, Moreton Bay, Palm Island and Townsville. A number of restrictions will remain in place under the Queensland Government Stage 3 restrictions guidelines. This includes:

Masks must be worn when at stadiums, at an airport, and on a domestic or international flight departing or arriving in Queensland.

South East Queensland—You must carry a face mask with you at all times when you leave home, unless you have a lawful reason not to.

  • Public Transport and ride share: must wear a mask including while waiting for the transport in a public space such as a bus stop, taxi rank or train station
  • Outdoors: you must wear a mask when unable to stay 1.5m apart from people who are not part of your household.
  • Indoors: you must wear a mask in indoor spaces (including workplaces, but not your own home) unless it is unsafe or you can stay 1.5m apart from other people. This includes cafes, restaurants, pubs etc. unless eating or drinking, seated or standing.
  • Schools: Masks must be worn by teachers and staff (all schools), plus students in high school.

Rest of Queensland—Everyone is encouraged to carry and wear a mask when physically distancing is not possible.

Multicap wishes to advise customers and support networks of the following updates to Multicap services in the above LGAs during this time.

Customers should have a mask with them when leaving our services. A mask can be provided by Multicap to customers when they cannot provide their own. Where possible, customers should wear a mask when outside the home when they can not maintain 1.5m social distancing, and when using Multicap Transport. Customers will be supported by staff to adhere to these measures, where possible.


Visitors are permitted at Supported Independent Living, Short Term and Critical Supports accommodation in these areas. Visitor screening tools must continue to be used and social distancing from others should be maintained where possible. Masks must be worn by staff at all times and by visitors when social distancing can not be maintained.

New South Wales

Multicap services in the Tweed and Murwillumbah areas are currently not under stay at home orders.
The current restrictions are in place for accommodation services:

  • Two visitors a day are permitted provided they have not been to any stay at home area in the last 14 days.
  • All staff must wear masks
  • Only essential staff are permitted in the facility. Non-essential staff are considered necessary for operational purposes must be assess for risk of exposure to determine their suitability for work in the facility.
  • Residents are allowed to leave to attend family gatherings or disability day programs but must abide by current Public Health (COVID-19 Additional Restrictions for Delta Outbreak) Order (No 2) 2021 Order. Customers should wear a mask if possible when attending indoor events.
  • Customers must not go into an area currently under a stay at home Order.
  • Residents must be supplied with PPE when leaving for essential reasons (if cannot wear PPE must have a medical certificate or a statutory declaration)

Staff travel and vaccinations

As of 1am 29 September 2021 Tweed Shire and Byron Shire LGAs are part of the non-restricted border zone. Essential workers currently permitted to cross into Queensland from New South Wales (X, XQ or XN Pass holder) will be required to have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination by Friday 20 August 2021.

We strongly encourage everyone to get their COVID-19 vaccination. You can find out how to get your vaccination on the Queensland Health website.

Please continue to adhere to all COVID-19 measures in place and visit the Queensland Government website for more information and updates. Most importantly, please stay home if you are sick and get a COVID-19 test.

Please call the Multicap COVID-19 Hotline on 0435 003 865 immediately:

  • if customers have had a COVID-19 test.
  • if customers have attended a Contact Tracing location
  •  for any confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19.

All sites currently have the following measures in place to protect our customers, team members, and the public. These measures are in addition to any current state or federal government-mandated restrictions or directions.

  • Visitors are permitted at Multicap Accommodation services if the visitor complies with entry requirements and checks in to the site. Visitors must follow the directions of staff on site
  • Multicap team members must follow the mandatory temperature checks and travel/health screening questions when arriving at site 
  • Multicap team members have been instructed to increase their hand hygiene practices and to not come to work if they are unwell
  • All people on site must follow the social distancing requirements for each location, where possible.

Customers, staff and visitors patrons are welcome to wear masks at any time if they wish, and Multicap staff will support customers to do so. You can access social stories for mask-wearing on our COVID-19 Support Resources page.
