Avegates School Holiday Program national HESTA award finalist

The Avegates School Holiday Program has been announced as a finalist in the 2021 HESTA Excellence Awards

The program was among just three finalists in the Outstanding Organisation in Disability Services category, selected from hundreds of entries from across Australia.

Multicap CEO Joanne Jessop said Multicap was thrilled and honoured that our Avegates School Holiday Program had been selected as a finalist.

“For almost 60 years, Multicap has worked with our customers to deliver innovative support that enhances the quality of life of our customers and their families, and the Avegates School Holiday Program is just one example of this,” Joanne said.

“Since launching the program around 18 months ago, the response and feedback from parents has been amazing, and the program continues to grow.

“The program’s success highlights the need for fun, engaging and supporting programs for young people with disability. Knowing that we are helping to support families in this space is really gratifying and inspires us to do more.”

The HESTA Awards were held via a live public broadcast on Wednesday 25 August 2021, with New South Wales filmmaking organisation Bus Stop Films taking out the title for Outstanding Organisation in Disability Services.

The Avegates school holiday program runs at five locations, and was recognised for its support of children and young people living with disability.

Run during school holidays for children with disability aged 6-17, the program is designed to be fun and engaging, while also supporting social interaction, communication, life and independence skills, recognising that customers are at different stages in their lives.

Activities include art, cooking, sport and cultural days along with a range of excursions, such as a trip to Australia Zoo.
