This Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) Project is Proudly Funded by the Queensland Government.

This is a potential employment pathway for an exciting opportunity to start your career in the growing industry of Disability Support.

Eligibility

  • Being ineligible for Australian Government employment services or assistance; or
  • Requiring complementary services due to significant barriers to learning and employment; or
  • Having accessed Australian Government employment services for more than six months and remain unemployed for more than six months;
  • People from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Course Details

  • Information session will be held on Monday the 3rd February 2020 from 10.00am to 1.00pm. *Please note attendance is invitation only* Please register your interest by Friday the 31st of January by contacting Annette via the details below.
  • Classes run for 18 weeks, 2 days per week - 9:00am to 4:00pm at Multicap in Rockhampton.
  • Course will commence on the 10th of February 2020
  • Includes 120 hours of organised practical placement, polo shirt, first aid, and CPR
  • Please note that participants who hold a current Certificate III in Individual Support/Aged Care or equivalent, or are currently employed in the Aged Care/Disability industry are NOT eligible.

About the role Our Marketing, Communications & Events team are responsible for supporting the organisation and sharing the journey of our customers, staff and business. The Internal Communications Advisor is pivotal in ensuring effective communication across the organisation and enhance the satisfaction of our stakeholders, also but not limited to you will;

  • Develop detailed print and digital communication and content strategies, plans and guidelines.
  • Generate high level content that aligns to the organisations goals using a variety of mediums including written, video and audio.

About you You’ll be a fantastic corporate journalist/writer and storyteller (5 years + required) and may have commenced your career as a journalist. About the role: The Community & Stakeholder Engagement Officer is a critical role to ensure strategic relationships and field marketing opportunities are developed. About the role

This position is a Parental Leave cover required from mid February 2020 for a minimum of 8 months with the possibility of extension.

This role will be focused on creating pathways for QCC customers to transition from current service providers into new QCSS service providers. The role will be based in the Logan area. Other duties include:

  • Ensuring the services are managed in alignment to Multicap’s Vision, Strategic Priorities, and customer needs
  • Providing influential leadership, direction and supports to Team Leaders and Support Staff
  • Establishing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships, enhancing the customer’s experience of Multicap services and providing opportunity for improved brand awareness
  • Leading and developing a team to ensure that service delivery and service expansion remains individually focused.

About you

We are seeking someone who is true leader, who can inspire a team, be accountable, respect and value relationships, give and receive feedback, but above all – someone who can live Multicap’s sole purpose in enhancing lives. Someone who will also bring:

  • Experience in providing services for people with disabilities, particularly those with high or complex needs,
  • Qualifications that underpins your practical knowledge (for example, within the human services, community services and nursing field)
  • Experience in staff leadership and performance, including assessing recruitment needs, planning employment development plans, and performance management
  • Experience in developing Person-Centered-Plans within a positive behaviour framework
  • Knowledge of legislation and safe work practices, and a commitment to policies and procedures

 About the role

As our Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, your role will be to deliver high level, evidenced based clinical advice and professional information to persons living with a disability, families, staff & managers. Through applying evidence based approaches the position will reduce the impact of challenging behaviour across the organisation by also demonstrating an application of your professional discipline within the context of contemporary behaviour support literature. This is a Permanent, full-time.

Role requirements may include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Provide discipline specific advice and quality assurance to other Multicap staff.
  • Undertake relevant assessments to identify causal factors of challenging behaviour in order to establish effective strategies and plans that address the behaviour and enhance the quality of life for the individual. 
  • Provide coaching, modelling and support to stakeholders  including but not limited to families, support workers,  and managers to ensure support relevant parties are competent in the implementation of support strategies and aware of their responsibilities and how to effectively implement the plan.
  • Implement, capture and analyse data in order to monitor the plan’s effectiveness, review challenging behaviour and make any changes where required.
  • Meet operational, clinical, legal and financial performance targets.
  • Attend relevant tribunals in order to meet legislative requirements, incorporate outcomes into plans and present any risks and/or benefits associated with Multicap providing support.

Essential:

  • Degree qualified in allied health or social and behavioural sciences
  • Well-developed knowledge of person-centred approaches
  • Experience and knowledge of challenging behaviour and intellectual disability
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating the provision of support to persons living with a disability and their families and support networks
  • Knowledge of the State Disability Services Act and National Quality and Safeguards Framework as they apply to restrictive practices, and demonstrated experience in utilising positive behaviour support to develop and implement behaviour support plans is desirable

The successful applicant will:

  • Have high level interpersonal skills and experience supporting people in situations of high emotions
  • Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to develop relationships with team members and stakeholders and deal with issues of a sensitive nature
  • Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills to ensure clear and concise information is presented to the team, Regional Manager and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills to successfully identify problems, develop solutions and implement these using a logical and systematic approach
  • Hold a current QLD Drivers Licence (mandatory)
  • Hold a current blue (working with children) and yellow (positive notice card) or be willing to obtain one
  • Be willing to undertake and pass a criminal history clearance 

Highly desirable:

  • Experience in the discipline of service Provision
  • Post graduate qualifications in allied health or social or behavioural sciences and or professional registration;
  • Experience working with persons with intellectual disability with high and complex needs.

About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Arts Facilitator to lead Art programs and disability services located in Rockhampton.

The successful applicant will be responsible to work with a team of Disability Support Workers, ensuring service delivery is reflective of customer needs and aligned to agreed quality outcomes for the individual and organisation.

Primary duties will include:

  • Ensuring the delivery of agreed quality services to clients in line with their individual service plan and Multicap’s strategic priorities for the service and organisation.
  • Providing leadership, guidance and supports to Direct Support Staff.
  • The position is a permanent part-time position for 28 hours per fortnight.

About you

To be considered for the position, you will ideally have:

  • Demonstrated advanced skills in assisting adolescents and adults with disabilities, particularly those with complex support needs.
  • Experience in leading diverse teams including well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • QUalifications and/or experience in visual arts
  • Demonstrated ability and skill to work within the Individual Planning process for persons with an intellectual disability
  • Documentation of recent Art practice.
  • Experience in coordinating and administering the delivery of dynamic services
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the Queensland Disability Services Act 2006,(including amendments relative to restrictive practice) and National Disability Service Standards
  • Knowledge of and capacity to apply Equal Opportunity and Workplace Health & Safety principles in the workplace

About the role

We are currently seeking a Senior Music Therapist develop, implement and coordinate Multicap’s therapeutic framework, incorporating music therapy across all Multicap hub service settings.  Provide leadership and support to the music therapists and therapy assistants at Multicap.

Primary Duties will include:

  • Undertake a Music Therapy clinical caseload. Functions of the clinical service delivery will include:
  • Ensure customers attending Multicap services have access to music therapy experiences as appropriate.
  • Liaise with other allied health professionals to enhance the therapeutic framework. 
  • Promote awareness and understanding of the benefits of the Music Therapy programme at Multicap both within the organisation and to the wider community. This will include:
  • Engage in research activities relating to the health needs of people with disabilities and produce one research paper for presentation to the Operations managers each year.
  • Each year, submit research paper to relevant conferences relating to disability, allied health, medicine or other related fields.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training for Music Therapy students and Music Therapy Assistants when required.
  • Be aware of, and adhere to workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Be aware of funding opportunities and prepare at least one funding submission each year to enhance resources and expand the Music Therapy program

 What you bring

  • Possess a Bachelor of Music (Music Therapy Specialisation) or Masters of Music Therapy. (Mandatory).
  • Be registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association (mandatory)
  • Possess and demonstrate relevant disability (or allied health/welfare /education field) experience, knowledge and/or training relevant to the position.Current Qld Drivers License (mandatory).
