National Disability Insurance Scheme updates 

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has implemented a range of additional resources and measures during the pandemic, in order to assist participants to continue to access their services and continue to live their lives with choice and control during this time.

The NDIS website has extensive information for participants and their support networks on COVID-19 health advice specifically for people with disability, available in a range of accessible formats. Information is updated regularly.

NDIS participants now also have more flexibility with their plan, including accessing assistive technology, automatic plan extension, and help with finding support providers.

Disability Royal Commission
The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (Disability Royal Commission) suspended public events, including public hearings, on 16 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the Commission is continuing its investigation during this time, working towards finding better ways of protecting people with disability and promoting a more inclusive society to support people with disability to live with independence and without harm.

The Commission is seeking input from people who wish to share any experiences of violence, neglect, abuse or exploitation of people with disability, and has released a number of issues papers on specific topics in recent months.
