Music Therapy

Music Therapy is more than a fun creative outlet for our customers - it is an engaging and research-based practice which supports people to reach their goals in communication, motor skills, social skills, and general health and well-being.

Music Therapy at Multicap

Multicap's music therapy program offers music making actvities in a therapeutic relationship with a qualified and registered Music Therapist, with individual programs designed specifically for each person's needs and goals.

Now also available as an online service

Multicap is pleased to now deliver Music Therapy programs online, allowing for therapeutic engagement and creativity from the comfort of your own home.

Online sessions are delivered via Microsoft Teams, which is an easy to use and no-cost video conferencing platform. Microsoft Teams can be accessed by anyone with an internet connection and a mobile device or a computer. Our friendly team will support you to set this up if required.

How Music Therapy can help you

We create opportunities for positive and pleasurable musical experiences, while assisting people to develop self­ awareness, awareness of others and the environment, vocalisation through singing, rhythmic music as well as facilitating physical function. Some of the benefits of Music Therapy include:

Accredited and funded programs

Music Therapy is recognised by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) for inclusion in funded support plans as Therapeutic Supports under Support Category 3.15 - Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living Skills. Often working in conjunction with our other therapeutic programs and services, we take a holistic approach to your Music Therapy program, to help you get the most out of each session as you work towards your goals.

Our Music Therapy programs are facilitated by qualified Music Therapists who are registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association. Registered Music Therapists are allied health professionals and are bound by a code of ethics that guide their practice.
