Opportunity knocks at Makeables

An additional 200 jobs will be on offer at Makeables Tingalpa over the next three years, thanks to a new contract with global snack-food company PepsiCo.

Following a successful trial, Multicap and Makeables secured a three year contract to package a range of promotional items for the company, meaning more employment opportunities for people with disability.

Around 30 supported employees have been working on the project over the past few months, with the number of employees required to grow to 100 in the second year and more than 200 in the third year of the contract.

Warehouse and Logistics Manager Donna says the contract means new skills for supported employees "Everyone is trained in the process and what is required to meet 100 per cent quality control on each job—PepsiCo has been really impressed by our quality control. This quality control happens regardless of who the client is.”

Supported Employee Neil says the new skills he's learning is helping him towards his long-term goals. “I get up and enjoy going to work—work is important to me,” he said. “At the end of the day I feel a lot better about myself that I’ve put the effort in and taken on new challenges.”

Makeables works with clients from across a whole range of industries, offering extensive diversity in tasks and experiences for supported employees. This gives our supported employees increased transferable skills, paving the way for opportunities in the open employment market.

With big orders to fill in the coming years, we'll need more employees to get the job done! Find out how you can become a Makeables team member by calling us on 1300 135 886.
